Hi IGI short for Internaltional Geneaological Indix, you can access it from www.familysearch(.)org (leave out bracket) when you are on the site, click on to search for ancestors, and just put in the surname etc , you do not have to include years, only put in British Isles & England or Scotland, site is quite easy, just explore it

Hi Anna Forgot to say that I've found some women by searching for their deaths by their maiden and married names and then cross-referencing the lists until you narrow it down to only a few to check. Lynne

Hi Anna I had the very same problem as you. Eventually, I found out more through their death records on Scotland's People. First of all I checked if the people were still alive at the time of their children's weddings. You can look at all childrens marriage records to narrow down when their parents died. If its after 1855, then BINGO! Their death should be on the Statutory Registers on Scotland's People and their parents names are usually on that as well as who the deceased was married to (and previous marriages). Sometimes it also tells you where they were buried. I hope that makes sense. I have found death records to be really good although one missed out the fact that one of my ancestors had three marriages. The death record only listed two! If you need any more help, feel free to email me. Good luck Lynne

I have been researching my family on Scotlands People but I am stuck. So far I have been able to go back to the previous generation by viewing the birth/marriage certificates which had the parents names on it, so I could them search for their children. I have got back as far as William, married to Isabel in St Vigeans on December 6th 1805, but when I ordered a copy of the entry there was no mention of their dates of birth or their parents names. I have tried doing a search on Willian born between 1765 and 1785 but that came up with several which could be possibilities. How do I find out which is the right one. Any help would be appreciated.
