Hi Samantha, My Gt Grandmother was Elizabeth Evans so i sympathise with your plight! All i knew was she was born in Haverfordwest. I searched in vain for clues having no idea of her date of birth. It may help to find her death certificate - you may still have a chance of someone in the family remembering when she died. This gave me my Gt Grandmothers date of birth and enabled me to work back. A message on the trying to find boards may help - its worth a try ! Good Luck Elaine x.

Whoah, looking for a Jones in South Wales, you will need a bit of luck! I guess there will be a number of Lucy Jones with births registered in 1910. I have a greatx2 grandfather with a 'popular' surname and forename too. It will probably leave me with no alternative but to order 15 birth certificates! The ONS has the facility to check other known details before sending the certificate and, if the known details do not match (e.g.name of parent) they only charge a search fee.

hi, i am trying to trace the Jones family - without much luck!! - my grandmother was born in 1910 - LUCY JONES in PONTYPRIDD wales - one of several children - Her mother is SUSAN JONES(married & maiden name)- i cant find her anywhere - unfortunately i am not 100% sure where in wales she was born - where do i go from here?? do i have to get lucys birth certificate to find out??? can anyone please help!? many thanks sam
