yes, that's him in 1881. i already have him and his family from 1861 to 1901 (although he died in 1895) before he moved to Loughton, Essex (between 1861-1865) and married Elizabeth (nee Higgins), he lived in Aspley Guise in Bedfordshire, and was married to Susan (nee Giles). she died sometime between 1861 and 1863 (the date of Thomas' marriage to Elizabeth) although I found Thomas on the 1861 census, someone has looked at the 1851 census of bedfordshire for me, and he isn't there, so i don't know where he, and whether he is even in the country. He married his first wife in 1853, so he must be here before that! i'm also not sure of his date of birth, his age at his death in 1895 is 65, although on the 1891 census his age is 56! on the 1861 census his age is 33! so his birth would be sometime between 1827 - 1835! you can see why it's turning out to be a difficult job! stew

If this is him on the 1881 census, then his birth year is either 1835 (if he is 46) or 1834 if he is going to be 47 later in 1881. Birth Year <1835> Birthplace (British Subject), Jamaica Age 46 Occupation Brick Maker Marital Status M <Married> Head of Household Thomas SEARS Relation Head Disability If he was in England in 1851 he would be aged 16 or 17 and presumably working, perhaps in the brick trade. nell

I'm looking for Thomas Sear, but the trouble is, I'm not sure where he is. In 1861 he's in Aspley Guise, bedfordshire, but he isn't there in 1851. He was born in Jamaica, and is between 17-23. His fathers name is Richard Sear. I don't know when he moved to England or where he moved to! If someone is able to help me out, i'd be very grateful, he was my great great grandfather and i've really hit a brick wall! regards Stewart
