If you belong to a Family History Society and go to the meetings you may wll find this book in the library. It is a very good book and I know we have it in the library of the London Westminster and Middlesex FHS. Failing that see if you can order it up through your local library although it is an expensive book so might be reference only but worth a try. Janet

It might be worth using the thread-search to find the threads about India. They have some useful India links - including military. Have you tried putting names (people or regiments)/dates/places into Google or the like? I've found all sorts like that. You need to remember to put "inverted commas" round compound names. good hunting Christine

Kaye Do a Google search for the Long Long Trail - it has plenty of info about researching military matters such as you are looking for. Ian

Here I am again with all these mysterious military ancestors. Does anyone have access to a book called " In Search Of A Forlorn Hope"..I believe it can tell you what regiments were where on a certain date. This time its for my great grandfather who served in the Royal Artillary in Agra and Barrackpore, Bengal. He (they) also had two sons born there. Thanks, Kaye.
