tracing the 1901 census CHipperton's would not be helpful at this stage as i need to find the earlier ones to work out where the later ones fit in if you see what i mean! Thanks for the suggestion Alison

1901 census has a Charles age 56, so prob ties into 1871 age 26. This one states born London Islington. There are only 38 Chippertons on the 1901 census - might be worth finding them all?

Thankyou to everyone for your help. Yes Pat the age does tie in with the date of birth of my Frederick. If it is not too much trouble could you please give me the details of the rest of the household. I would really appreciate it. ALbert and Jane coulld be a possibility - i will check that out. and the other web suggestions Thanks again everyone Alison

Alison, I also found a Jane Chipperton 22 years of age married to Albert Chipperton 24 years of age This is on 1871 census they are living Westminster St. Martin In the Fields both listed as born LONDON (no area given) These could be the only family Frederick had maybe his brother and wife. Although its Albert not Charles maybe he went by Albert. They are the only ones I could see. Pat x

Could try 1871 census think someone is offering lookups at the minute - also perhaps ancestry too plus free BMD's and as a last resort 1837. LDS site too. Also the surname navigator site http://rat*de/kuijsten/navigator/uk/index*html as it looks like an unusual surname. Also could try rootsweb*com either for the surname or the geographical area you think they might come from and also the Local History people there too. Have a look further back for useful web pages - haven't seen it for awhile.

when my ancestor Fredercik Chipperton enlisted in the BUFFs in 1875 his next of kin were listed as Charles and Jane CHipperton. They do not appear on the 1881 census and i cannot find trace of them. I do not know their exact connectin to Frederick. Can anyone give me any ideas where to look next? Alison
