I've recently come across an old photo taken in the early 1900's and on the back is 'Photo by K C Clark'. Try as I might I cannot find K C Clarke on any searches. I've also tried the rogerco site with no luck. Can anyone help please?

Trish Do you know where/which town the photo was taken in? In those days it was almost always a professional studio. No signs of the address/domicile of the studio visible? Or do you know where the subject of the photo came from? Then check the 1901 census in that area for the photographer's name. I managed to do that on the 1881 census with an old photo and found the photographer. It actally revealed the district my gt gt gran came from - had thought it was N E London but turned out to be Chelsea. The photographer was from nearby Brompton, and it was the first clue in my search. Ian

Hi Ian, well, I was looking in the Bristol area but now hubbys aunt says that the photo was probably taken in the States!! A big area to say the least. I'm going to have to probe her mind a bit more I think. Thanks anyway
