Geoff #You may have solved the query. The person I am looking for was Sarah also married at St Leonards in Shoreditch. Maybe her surname was Vallance? I will check this out. Thanks for your help. Regards Angela

I have looked at the IGI and I find these two marriages in the same parish 1. ANGEL VALANCE - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 05 JUN 1803 Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England 2. ANN VALLANCE - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 06 NOV 1802 Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England Whether there is a connection or not, I'm afraid I can't answer.

Angela Can you give us some more info? Where did you see this name, was it on a census return? Sometimes another pair of eyes is just what's needed to decipher old writing. Sue

Hi I 've found my ggggg grandfather at long last! But his wife's name seems to be mistranscribed as Heallance. Has anyone any ideas what surname this could really be? Or whether it is a name in its own right? Thanks for your help Regards Angela
