hello start with what you know. do you have yours and your brothers birth certs. this will show parents. find a marriage for them. order the cert and this will tell you their fathers names and occupations. search 1837 for 1974 to find your mothers death and 1929 for her birth(this will show her parents on cert)and address. as your mum sadly died in 74 it is recent records you are after and although ive had some success looking back im unsure where you find the recent stuff. think you might need a trip to a records office or libraries might hold BMD for recent years for you to search. make a good start anyway. you have your details , plus any of your family and then your brothers and their families and before you know it youll have a nice tree started. good luck brenda x

Denise - your best bet is www(.)1837online(.)com (remove the brackets!). This has indexes for all births, marriages and deaths 1837-present. It's a pay site, you have to purchase credits, everything is explained on the website. You can also order certificates (£7 each) and they will be delivered in about 7 days. Hope this helps, Sheila

Denise, If you don't want to pay to view, alot of central libraries have birth, marriage and death indexes on fiche, which you can look at for free. Janice

Hallo Denise i must warn you that tracing your family tree is highly addictive! In case you didn't know, there is a "Getting Started" section on the site, which you can refer to. On your homepage, scroll down to Genealogy Resources - its there with other info you may find helpful. If in doubt, ask away! nell
