Ramblin Rose Report 23 Aug 2004 12:12

I have been a researcher for six years and most of my original research was done in Record Offices, either from fiche or from the original handwritten records. When LDS BECAME AVAILABLE JUST FOR FUN i CHECKED THEIR RECORDS OF MY OWN FAMILY. i FOUND NUMEROUS ERRORS. I notified LDS and gave them the accurate records. There have never been any acknowledgments from them or any corrections made. I now have many contacts all around the world and am continuing to correct errors. NEVER TAKE EVERYTHING YOU FIND ON THE NET AS ACCURATE. aLWAYS CHECK WITH ORIGINAL RECORDS.

Rosemary I think it says somewhere on the LDS site that they don't add amendments. I have found a lot of valuable info on the site, but always check with the originals. It is a useful tool for pointing you in the right direction. The Ancestral files are particularly notorious - I found some records once that had a man's marriage date several years before his birth! nell
