Hi can any one help? I am having trouble tracing my Grandfather John Kelly.I have his marriage certificate. But i cannot obtain a birth certificate for him, as i do not know his mothers first name.I have already purchased the wrong birth certificate, and with a name like John Kelly it would cost me a fortune to purchase them all. He was married in 1920 at st ambrose church Everton Liverpool. His address on the certificate is 28 Kirby street Liverpool.Does anyone know where i could find out who lived there in july 1920. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Linda.

Hi Linda A way to check would be electoral rolls for No 28 Kirby Street and they would be held at your local records office in Liverpool, if you live in or near the city. It should list John and his wife, as women had the right to vote by then. Hope this helps.

No I think you can just go there. I have been in all of the London record offices free of charge. Good luck with your research. Ben

Linda If he was alive in 1901 you could see which address he was at then as it would be nearer his birth date. If living with his family, you could use his father's occupation as a checking point on his birth cert. nell
