Elaine, I reckon that killed a lot of ladies way back. Another bad one is haemorrage before childbirth (placenta first) which I had and it was traumatic, reckon that may have killed both mothers and children way back. Pat x |

Amy, Just had a quick look through the dictionary- Phthisis-old term for wasting disease esp. tuberculosis of the lungs. Rheumatic fever-A fever where the joints ache and swell and the heart becomes inflamed. Apoplexy-Another word for a stroke-A blood vessel in the brain becomes blocked or breaks, resulting in sudden paralysis + loss of consciousness. Visceral Disease- Affecting the internal organs of the body(rather vague that one!) Post Partum Haemorrhage- My mother almost died of this. Sudden loss of blood in childbirth involving the placenta-( after the child is delivered i believe). Elaine x. |
