Hi, The birth cert of one of their children will give the mother's maiden name which may make the search for the marriage easier. Gwynne

Thanks Keith for that info so there you go Thomas you should also be able to find your own now on 1837. The answer as to whether or not you will find much info is that you will get as much info as ordinary Marriage Cert from UK. I had one of these and it gave his marriage details where when, both fathers names and occupations as well as regt and rank of person. Good luck. Janet

Janet. Those records are now on line. Log in to 1837 as normal and look for the Overseas Records heading. Fascinating. Good hunting. Keith

I am sure that you realise that Limerick is S Ireland and If you live near the FRC in London there is an Overseas Army Registers Book which you can search for this marriage. Some one did say that these records are coming on line with the 1837 online but I do not know when, although I think this was in the autumn of 2004 Janet

The marriage may have been recorded in the normal way on the indexes, or it may be recorded in an appendix to the marriage index. The LDS have films of Irish BMD indexes, and if you have an idea of the year of marriage they should be able to get a copy of the film for you. One problem is that both names were not always recorded in the index, so it might be a case of following up references in the index with Church Records. As you probably know, Irish Records are held at Belfast and/or Dublin and a lot have been destroyed in different ways. There was a thread about Northern Ireland look-ups on one of the boards. You never know, they might be able to find something for you. Good Luck. Paul

My ggf was a soldier in 64th Regiment of Foot. He married a nurse whilst posted at Limerick Barracks in about 1870. I know almost everything I need to know of her, I even have a photograph, but I do not know her Surname. she is simply given as Mary Emma. in his paybook whih I also have. The point is, where would I find the Army records of "common soldiers'" weddings? and if i found them, would I find any greateramount of info that I have already. Tom Brosnan
