You are welcome Brenda, hope it is the right one. I paid for a years subscription on Ancestry so might as well make the most of it.

carol thankyou so much. the rock ferry one looks v promising. it is close to bebington. on 1891 it states born bebington as were all her children , i wonder if her family moved to liverpool and she came back. her first marriage was to a wirral man but they got married in lancs district and i could never make out why. perhaps she went back to where her family where. oh i do hope this is it. i was very undecided which certs to order this month (so many) (so few pounds) that ive decided its got to be her marriage one to find out the name of her father. love and thanks brenda x

well i am a twit that should have read 1871( but the same question still applies) seeing as the person i am looking for was born in 1864/5. ill ring the largest library closest to me and see what they hold. carol very kind of you but i dont hold out much hope. i have the free trial on ancestry but doesnt seem to be much on cheshire. i am looking for sarah ann johnson born bebington cheshire. if youre willing to give it a go id be grateful. thanks everyone brenda x ps sarah was aged 27 in 1891

Also, if you have an LDS centre near you, that is the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, their family history centres are very good. Find them in your phone book under Church, you will have to phone for an appointment but there is no charge, and no one will try to convert you. If they dont have the film you want, they will order it for you and they just charge the postage costs.

Hi Brenda, The Family Records Centre in Myddleton Street London holds all censuses, 1841 to 1901 for the whole of England and Wales, the County Records Office for the county you are researching will hold all the censuses for that county and you may well find that large libraries in the area hold a local studies collection including censuses as well.Good hunting Judith

I havent found any online, but Ancestry has 1871. If that could help, let me know the details and I will have a look for you. I am registered with them
