Death certificate for an Infant - Help Please!!

Thanks Kathleen, I thought I'd never get a reply. I don't know whether to chance ordering the certificate as I know his father died in the same year. Lynne

I have the death certificate for a baby and under 'occupation' it states 'son of ..... and gives the fathers name'. If you know the fathers name as well you could always ask them to check against that. The informant may be the mother, but it could be anyone else instead - depends how the mother was feeling at the time. The informant doesn't have to be a relative. Kath

I have an ancestor who I think died within a few months of his birth. As I am not sure, I don't want to waste money on the ceritficate if its not his. Can anyone tell me if the informant would be his mother (his father may have already dies too). If so then I can order the certificate stating I only want it if the mother's name is correct. Lynne
