Can anyone please advise me where I can access electorol roles for the Wigan area(Ince and Ashton probably) for the years 1956 until 1960? Everywhere I seem to search it is offering me only 2002 until 2004? Many thanks for your help. Rosemary |

Hi, Some county record offices have copies of past electoral rolls. They are only street indexed so if you don't have an address you're in for a long trawl through. Nothing online. Gwynne |

Hi, a few months ago I was trying to access electoral rolls for the 1980s in a town miles away. A very VERY kind person who lived in that town went to the library for me and had a look, and got the information I needed. So you could try posting this as a 'help please' thread on this board and maybe also on the Records Office board. You could also try ringing the local library and they might be willing to have a look for you. Good luck, Mandy :) |

Have a look at the British Library website. The library(in London) holds all electoral rolls. Some are held off site and take 3-4 hours to be delivered. Full details on their site Norman |

Local libraries and/or record offices will usually do a look-up for you if you have a full address. Wendy |
