Hi Helen and Judith, yes where I thought he died is where the local office done a search for me, and I have narrowed down to years like this in 1889 William Poole and his wife had a baby born in January 1889 registered in March 1889 he was down as father and was working, in the 1891 census his wife Emma Poole is down as a widow and she remarried in 1893, I have looked before 1889 and after 1891 the only trouble is I am not sure how old he was because I have conflicting ages for him I have looked under all variations of his name as far as I know he did not have a middle name. they were living in Edmonton North London on the 1881 census that is where the baby was born and where she was still living in the 1891 census. As I said there are some deaths for the time with the same name but I could not buy them all but none from that area Edmonton, some in Middlesex if only I knew his correct age but with material that Could put 16 years older than I thought. As when he married in 1871 he was 24 or so his marraige cert. states and the 1881 census he was 44 and an only record I could find of a William Poole being born in the right area was in 1831 with a father George Poole he was born in Haverhill Suffolk. hoping this all makes sense thank you for asking Margaret

You're dead right (sorry couldn't resist:-)) A funeral can't take place without a death certificate BUT 1. the local registrar may have neglected to forward the registration to the GRO 2. the entry may have been mistranscribed when sent to GRO 3. The person registering the death may have got the name wrong or the registrar may have written it down wrong 4. The deceased may have changed their name so not be registered in the name you are looking for In case of 1 or 2 it may be worth asking the local registry office where you think the death took place to look for the entry Judith

Margaret Let's have some details - when are we talking about, where, what is the person's name and how have you narrowed your search down to two years? Then we can have a think about it. Nell

Hi to you all just asking a question about death certificates, I have heard that some never made it to the reigster office , but how could you bury someone without one. I have now been looking for a death certificate for 2 and half years, been to the record office many times had a search done looked at wills and deaths at sea, but can find nothing on the death in question i have even got it down to a 2year gap and there some of the name i am seeking but if I was to buy them all well I could not afford it. anyone got any ideas thanking you for reading this
