I have a great grandfather who was in the Metropolitan Police around 1880. Is there a site where one can obtain information? Thanks |

Greeting's Susan. . . . If you click on the link to " Resources Centre" in the box to the left hand side of screen Then click on " Useful Links" Scroll down to the link to " Police Orders" Once registered ( 24 Hours) You will be able to search for your relie. Hope this is of help to you. MIKE. |

Metropolitan police officers info is on police orders as above - when you are registered you can get the warrant number of your relative which will help you to find him. The National Archives have a series MEPO which has info about metropolitan policemen. I also got a bit about them, including the letters of the divisions and which areas of London they were from a site I have inadvertently deleted from my favourites (!) but I have some info printed out. When you have the info about your relative from police-orders, put it on a posting and I will see if I can add some more info for you. LN |
