Hi Andrea, If you put OPC in the search box at the top of the tips page Joy Dean has a thread about Cornwall OPC (Online Parish Clerk). I am in Canada and have used one of the OPC's for Devon to access information. They are very helpful to those of us on distant shores! Regards Barbara

Hi there, I think your best bet is your local LDS site. I am sure there must be plenty in the U.S.A. Their catalogue will tell you whether they have the parishes you need and if they do you will be able to borrow the films for a nominal sum. Best wishes in your search. Mary

Well I'm sorry to say that basically, unless you can get someone to do your research for you, or can find verifiable information regarding parish records you're stuck. It's sad to say but a lot of the information available on the Internet and particularly the IGI is very inaccurate. It's easy to find names that fit and construct a pattern but it does not mean that they are the right ones! It would be more helpful if the Mormon Church would listen to people doing direct research and correct their records accordingly.

Hi Andrea, Another way to obtain info. if you know the area/county you wish to research, join the family research organisation in the said area, then you can have your names being researched published in their magazines/or on line (some of them have that facility for their members) also, nearly all the family history socities have researchers, who for a small fee will oook up information for you. Whar areas are you looking for?

I'm fairly new to genealogy so I'm certainly no expert but the Mormon International Genealogy index would seem like a good place for you to start. Put IGI in as a search term into google and you should get the link to the IGI website. Someone else here probably knows the web link off by heart!

This may have been answered thousands of times, but how can you find relatives before 1837. I live in the USA and cannot get to Parish Records easily. Andrea
