Well done Jackie! Another example of how memory can be faulty.

Hi Sam Her name was Mary Hannah Packham. It's a very long story but i managed to track down her son this week who is 85. I spoke to him on the phone yest evening and he wasn't sure of her date of death but said it was between 20-25 years ago. Looked as far back as 1973 on 1837 online but have not found her. When i get 5 mins i will try and look back further. Out for tonight. So will try and look tomorrow (social life interfering with my research!!!) Mags Could not get on that site.

have you tried www(.)webfamily(.)org(.)uk You don't seem to be able to register on the site - a lot of people have had problems but you can do a search without registering. It will list all the people of your gran's name and when they died Hope it helps. Magsx

Hi Judith Considered death in different locality.(as my dad died away from home so he was registered elsewhere) Can't find anyone with same names as my grandmother in any locality. (Her surnames not that common to find) Jackie

It is very likely that the death would have been registered by her brother if that is who she was living with but unlikely that he could have registered it in her maiden name unless that was the name she was known by. Have you considered deaths in another locality - my grandma lived in North London but her death was registered in Devon as she died while on holiday. Judith

Looking for death of my Gr Grandmother in last 20-25 years but cannot find her on 1837 online. Not very common surname so have looked through years 1970-present. Could it be possible that the death was registered in her maiden name. At the time of her death she was living with her brother. Could he have registered her death? Her son was alive at the time but he lived away. Jackie
