Hi, It's a set of CDs produced by the LDS church containing transcriptions of various Bishop's Transcripts - baptisms, marriage and burials. Gwynne

Thanks Gwynne, I will have to look into that further then to make sure I get it right. Sorry to seem a bit dumb, but what its BVRI? Angela

Hi, I don't want to pour cold water on your enthusiasm but anything you find on an ancestral file should be checked against original parish records. Members of the LDS church were encouraged to guess at dates and places and these guesses are on ancestral files. The ordinary IGI is somewhat more reliable than ancestral files but everything still needs to be checked against original records. This also applies to anything found on the BVRI discs. There is an ancestral file on my family that is in many places a work of fiction. Gwynne

I asked a lady to do a look up for me on my great grandfather Robert Chubb, he died 13th January 1879 in a explosion at Dinas Colliery (Pontypridd) age 29. The lady kindly check for me and said she thinks she found him on the IGI and asked me to email her which I did, but I don’t think she’s been online for the past two days. I checked IGI on family search and there he was. His parents were Robert Chubb born c1820 Glamorgan and Mary Williams born 1824 Glamorgan. I checked the Ancestral File, it doesn’t give Robert Chubb’s parents but it does give Mary’s and it goes as far back to the early 1700’s. Being a newbie I wonder if somebody could double check this for me. Surely this is too good to be true! Angela
