Morning Cherie Is this the family on the 1881 census? Joseph Bytheway Head 64 Cleyhill, Shropshire Coal Miner Mary 59 Wife Oldbury, Worcester Eleanor 26 Daur Dudley, Worcester Mary A 22 Daur Dudley, Worcester coal Loader (labr) Edmund 15 Son Dudley, Worcester Coal Miner Dwelling: 3 lawley Street Dudley It's not a hard and fast rule but I find a lot of my male ancestors have got married in the brides parish so perhaps you could look there. Try tracing this family back through other censuses and see if your Benjamin appears with them Jeanette

Cherie, You will need to try 1837online as there are very few marriages for 1855/1856 on FreeBMD and Ancestry. Crista

Hi Crista Are you up early or to bed late! lol Cherie There are actually quite a lot of Bytheways on the 1881 census that seem to have a connection to Dudley or Worcester. Perhaps they will all fall into place when you find out more about your 3x great Granparents. Try tracing that first family on the 1861 Census jeanette

hi all..thanks for your input.Jeanette..im trying to find an earlier census that puts benjamin with this family but as of yet nothing....ive heard that dudley was missed from the worcs census but not 100% sure of that??it was possibly put with shropshire or staffordshire?? i may well have a grasp of linking my tree with someone else but i need to find more info on benj parents before i can do that. christa, just checked other thread thanks,i appreciate all the help and suggestions though.x

Hi Cherie Have you tried asking on the Records Office board if anyone has the 1861 for Dudley. Explain that you think it may have been put in with another County. Jeanette

Just had a thought (scuse me being slow toaday I'm full of cold! lol) try looking on the 1837 site as Crista suggested. I had a quick look on the 1881 census and it looks like Eleanor may have been Joseph and Marys eldest so they could have got married around 1854/55 Jeanette

jeanette..i thought the same but i found an 1851 lookup i was sent but it was under tipton not dudley giving the same place of birth for joseph and mary but it worked out two years out for joseph..but it gave three other children elizabeth, winnifred and hannah.elizabeths rough year of birth 1844??but the kind person that sent this couldnt find the family again...until maybe 1881 still in the worcs area if this is the same mary and joseph??proving baffling now!!!!
