I don't know what "Widgers" did, but if they are still going they would hopefully know where their employment records are. If they aren't still going, maybe the local record office has their archive. Would your relative have had a pension - there must be a record of that somewhere. Would he have been a member of a union? Alternatively, what information would an employment record tell you, and could you find it some other way, ie. his occupation would be on his marriage and death certs, passport if he had one, driving licence perhaps? My grandfather William Chamberlain born in Manchester area in 1907 moved to Plymouth and worked for a firm called "WIDGERS" - spelling maybe slightly different - for 45 years. He used to go home to Plymouth every friday from Newton abbott .How do I go about getting additional info ie: employment record?/ Thanks in advance Lee
