Hi Catherine, I found 'metrites' on a french site about diseases, when translated it came out as womb infection. Judith

i have the death certificate of my ggggrandmother, who died in 1882, however do not really understand the cause of death. The certificate lists this as "confinement 17 days, metrites 8 days" i understand confinement to be related to childbirth, but am not clear what metrites (could be spelled differently) refers to. Can anyone please shed some light on this???
