Hi All I have recently posted a thread on the records office board re checking a Liverpool marriage, the dates of which I found on IGI. A very kind person called Paul Mosedale ahs been to Liverpool library to look the record up, and it appears not to exist. When looking at the "source" on IGI, it comes up saying "Patron's Sheets - 1969 - 1991". Does anybody know what this is? Pauline

Hi, This means the information was submitted by a member of the LDS church. Data submitted to the IGI is never checked which is why it is not a reliable source and everything must be verified from original sources. In the early days of the LDS church members were encouraged to estimate BMDs if they couldn't find the information. Gwynne

Pauline, If you check the IGI record again it'll have a film number .You can send away for this film at a family history centre for £2.60 and it will have the original submission and the person's name and address. It may be old but you might still be able to track them down. One of my friends sent away for a film last year and found the lady was in her 80's living in the same town but a different address. She got the phone number through the American white pages and have chatted a few times. Hi I've just looked at the listing of the batch number on IGI - it's 9102531, and there are 410 entries in it. Does that mean they were all submitted by the same person. The entries cover all parts of the UK, with 194 being for Lancashire. If I can get a copy of the film, will it show details that the original entries were taken from? I've not had any expereince of having to do this at all. Pauline

Hi, Patron submission sheets vary a great deal. Some go into detail and name sources others only have vague guesses. Gwynne

Pauline, The film could contain all the entries from one person but more likely to be several. You'd probably just have to look through to find yours. Is there an LDS family history centre near you?You could just phone them or go through.Films can take a couple of weeks to come ,up to a year in my experience. Hi Gwynneth and Wendy Thanks for your help. My nearest centre is about 20 miles from where I live, and I believe only opens during the day, which isn't any help as I work full time. Think this branch may have to wait until retirement to track down, unless you have any other ideas. Would they check it out for me if I gave them the details? I don't know how helpful these people are. Pauline

Hi, The LDS volunteers will not do research for you.You could hire a local researcher to search the film for you if you really want to know. Gwynne
