Hi Wendy, just to mention there is a hotel literally five minutes from the beach, and it's on a good bus route. It's called the New Crown Hotel. It was a very good hotel when i was a kid, though it was a bit shabby last time I was there. That was 4 years ago, though. Might be worth checking their tourist board rating--if it's good, the location would be lovely for you. Have a safe trip, whenever you go. Sal |

Thank you for your reply Sally. I think it will be later in the year that I go, and may stay in a hotel near the beach. I am told there is a good bus route. Wendy |

Hi Wendy, there used to be a couple of nice hotels in Westoe Village--not sure what they are like now, but it would be quieter there--definitely quieter than Ocean Road would be! I'm off to South Shields library in a few weeks, when i go up there to visit my family, so might bump into you! x |

Can anyone suggest a place to stay in South Shields in order to do some research? I do not want to stay in a B&B on Ocean Road. I would like a hotel/pub in Shields with en-suite and food. I know the library there, and hope to visit and stay close by. Wendy from Essex |
