I have a problem accessing certain images on Ancestry - such as Commissioned Sea Officers etc. I'm OK with all census images. Ancestry say it's because of temp internet files. I have deleted all cookies, temp internet files as per Crista's instructions. I have also downloaded critical updates and defragged. As far as I can tell, all the right boxes are ticked ie SSL2.0,SSL3.0 and TLS1.0. I'm also having a problem on other sites viz: little red crosses in boxes where there should be pictures. Does anyone have any idea what I could try next to rectify the problem, please. Jill

Jill....try this: 1. Click on START 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL 3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS from the list 4. A box appears with labeled tabs at the top. Click on the ADVANCED tab 5. Scroll down to the subheading MULTIMEDIA and make sure that SHOW PICTURES is checked off. If it isn't, click it off and click on APPLY and OK at the bottom of the screen. Everything under MULTIMEDIA should be checked off EXCEPT "Don't display online media content in the media bar" and "Show image download placeholders." Judy

Hi Judy, Many thanks for replying - I'll give it a try in the morning - it's taken me all night to get back onto this site. I thought it must be my PC but there don't seem to have been many postings during the evening. Maybe I'm not the only one to have a problem! I really appreciate your help. Best wishes, Jill

Sorry Judy, everything was checked as you said. The only difference is that I don't have a check mark against "Always show Internet Explorer (5.0 or later) radio toolbar. I don't know what that is so I left it alone! I am beginning to suspect that there may be a problem with Ancestry. I seem to be able to view all the images providing I don't use the name search engine. Not terribly helpful - it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Is there SKS out there who would be prepared to try a couple of Ancestry searches for me - it would be nice to prove whether it's them or me! If so, perhaps you could e-mail me directly for the info to save clogging up the message board. Jill

Update - for Judy especially. Thank you for your help. Although my settings were fine everything is now resolved. I have been in contact with Ancestry who (although they probably won't admit it) have "tweaked" something. I can now (after a month of frustration) view all images with no problems and I haven't changed any settings on my PC. I must admit, when I eventually got though to a "person" he was very helpful and swift in responding. Pretty good customer relations - it just takes a while to work through the system! Jill
