Hi, Would anyone be able to tell me where the White Croft(think thats what it is) Hotel was in Richmond, Surrey. Just got a marriage certificate for one of my ancestors from 1875 and it gives his place of residence as this hotel. Many thanks Jackie

Hello Could it be the White Cross? Now a pub,(not sure whether a hotel as well)but has been there since 1835, and is right by the river, in Richmond. Have spent many a happy evening there!

In 19th writing, White Cross would be written as White Crofs.

As suggested, might be worth contacting the Richmond library. The White Cross is a Youngs pub, so have a look on the Youngs Brewery site for a photo.

thanks Ann Just looked at picture of the pub. Would't mind having a drink there myself! Looks lovely. Will contact Richmond Library and see if they have any history on it. Many thanks Jackie
