I'm not sure if you're saying he was subsequently adopted, but his surname at birth would have been your mothers maiden name, not his fathers surname. It's not likely that his father is still alive is it, but perhaps you could search for your half brothers birth and order the certificate, it would be a place to start from. Am I right in assuming your mother is not alive, so no one to ask questions? Regards Sam

my mother had a son out of wedlock prior to marrying my father. this would have been around 1930ish. i know the name of the father and the christian name of the son, but have no idea where i could look to find any records. does anyone have any ideas please ?
