You're welcome, Florence. It's nice to be able to help someone else for a change! I agree, I think the younger William is his son, too. They were obviously well-to-do, as they also had a few servants living with them. That's a bit different from my lot! Sue :-)

Hi Florence, I don't know the area at all but I found this info on ancestry for you, in case you haven't got it: 1891 (from Ancestry) 6 Thornhill Gardens Thackray, Anne 81 Little burum, Yorkshire Wife Bishop Wearmouth Durham Thackray, WilliamRetired ironmaker 87 Humengton, Yorkshire Head Bishop Wearmouth Durham (Jonathan Jopling, another retired ironmaker was next door at no. 5.) 7 The Avenue Thackray, Dorothy 5 Hampton, Middlesex Daughter Bishop Wearmouth Durham Thackray, Rose 41 London Wife Bishop Wearmouth Durham Thackray, William 46 Sunderland, Durham Head Bishop Wearmouth Durham Hope that gets you going! Hi, does anyone know the Bishopwearmouth, Durham area ? Looking for information on the dwelling named Hunter Ball - next household, Gardiners Cottage - previous household, Eden House. (information from 1881 Census) are these houses still there? Also looking for information on Iron Manufacturer, William Thackray who in 1881 employed about 500 men and boys. Does anyone have access to 1871 or 1861 census? was William Thackray at Hunter Ball then? Hope I have this on the right board !
