Thanks Kate, I have signed on to this one and you would never credit the palavar to sign on. It is very funny, they do a check on you and say leave your details and they will get back to you if you check out. I suppose that means if you have no criminal record on file. The whole attitude of the signing on process is a little paranoid, but then they are afraid that some one may be after a policeman's records for the wrong reasons I suppose. Any how I got accepted yesterday so I will see if I can get any info from them. In the meantime I thought I'd try a string. Thanks for getting back to me. I'm really hoping that someone from the family will get in touch. Thanks Rose

Hi Rosemary I don't know about Shropshire but there is a site at www(.)policeorders(.)co(.)uk which gives details for police serving in London. Perhaps someone there can point you in the right direction. remove brackets. Kath.

How can I find out what happened to my grandfather's brother. He went into the army in 1900 and I have found him on the census, but we know that he later went into the Police Force in Wellington Shropshire. Can anyone tell me how to find records of his police service and details of family and descendants who are my cousins?
