Could someone please tell me if the second christian name is recorded on the OPR certificates for Scotland. I do not want to waste £10 if it is not. Once again I have another Lewis (how I hate that name it has been nothing but trouble for me) who used this name when he married, on the 1841 census and it was on his wife's death cert (1891). He appears to have died pre 1855 as I cannot find him under Lewis from this date onwards and his wife was a widow on the 1881 census. It's the same problem I had with the other Lewis whose first name turned out to be William, I have a feeling this one might be Charles. Hope this makes sense to you my brain cells have gone at the moment looking for this rellie. LOL Thank you Pat

Marion That's a help I never thought of looking for that spelling, always thought that Louis was how the French spelt it. At least if the middle name is sometimes on the cert it's worth a try. Thank you Pat

As yet, I havent come across an OPR that has recorded the christian name the middle name and the surname! Its mostly christian name and surname and not a hell of a lot else!! I would go on the basis of a first name and surname to be safe. Wish I'd known this before today cos I was in register house edinburgh, and would have looked whatever up for you! Will be going again but dont know when...... Jill x
