Hi Judy....yeah I did do that at the weekend after you emailed me........also did scan disk and defrag.....you name it - I've done it.....short of taking a hatchet to the pc LOL. Maybe I will have better luck with it when the new pc arrives - in the meantime I still have AVG which detected the arrival of a TROJAN, so I have some backup. I have had sooo many probs with this thing lately - turned it on Sunday morning and Windows wouldn't open - had to make a run to the store to get a new system battery - 4th one it's had in it's lifetime, but luckily I know how to fit it myself - the first time it did it, had no idea what was wrong - ended up paying PC World £25 to diagnose, only for them to send me to the electrical store next door to buy the battery for them to fit!!!!! :( ....but being the inquisitive creature I am, sat and watched every move - now it only costs me £1.99 at Tesco LOL.

Anita.....since the software keeps hanging up on you, try starting your PC in SAFE MODE first and then running Adaware. (Should have mentioned that to you before! Sorry!!!) J

Hi Judy & Mags...........yep, definitely checking all the boxes LOL.....just that when I hit 'quarantine' it pops up the progress window and just stays like that forever............don't know if it's the software or the pc.......I think the latter, I'm sure this pc knows it's on it way to the scrapheap LOL....just having it's final revenge on me. I'll try your latest tip Judy and see how it goes. Thanks for your help :)

Mags.....LOL, when I first ran Adaware, I, too, forgot to put a check mark next to each item that the program found....so not so uncommon a step that people overlook. Anita, on occassion Adaware has not allowed me to quarantine.....I just skip that step when that happens and I go ahead and delete everything that it found. Do make sure that each item, though, is checked off as Mags suggested. To do that just place your mouse over any one of the objects in the results list and RIGHT CLICK. A drop down box appears and you can choose SELECT ALL OBJECTS.....this will place the needed check mark off in front of each item and then click on quarantine, or if still not allowing quarantine, delete.
