Hi Susan Sorry it took so long! DENNIS HAGAN died 1947 Reference no. 3187. Note spelling! Fraid there was no geneaologist present to open the cabinet for the Index book which would have given you an idea of the location! When you find out where he died contact me again as I might be able to help with the cemetery site. Marlene

That's the problem Sue, all I know is the year he died and the fact that his parents were Dennis and Elizabeth. If you can help that would be great

Do you know whereabouts in NZ? I'm in Christchurch, and hoping to get into the library next week, so might be able to check then for you too. Sue (in NZ)

Send an email through the site Helen has given you Susan, it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask them if that name plus year are enough to go on. sam

Hi Susan I'll have a look at the fiche in the Library - just be patient as I have a disabled mother and have to get someone in before I go out! That will give me a ref no for you to order when you are ready. Is there anything/one else you want to know about? Email me directly if you want Marlene in NZ

In case anyone can help, his name was Dennis or Denis Hagan and he died in New Zealand in 1947 - that's all I know.

All I know is the person's name and year of birth, not the exact date. Will that be enough?

There isn't a free site Susan, how specific can you be in your request? To get a NZ death cert all you need is the person's name and the date of the death. If you don't have the exact date then the year & place is acceptable too. I have got 2 NZ death cert's, they are much more informative than ours. I ordered through the site mentioned above, they cost £9.60 each and arrived with in a week. Regards sam

Thanks for that, but I was hoping to find a "free" site if possible. I don't have enough details yet to order a certificate.

Does anyone know where I'd be able to find a record of someone who died in New Zealand in 1947?
