Merci Beaucoup David. Francis was on our UK 1901 census - so judging by your findings he may well never have married and produced offspring. I will look into those findings of yours - thank you so much for your time and trouble. The family were Anglo Saxon and came to England in 1066 ( GLAIZE) although we can trace the name back to 400 AD with Hengist and Horsa who were commander generals. Au revoir Debi

According to the "Carte de France de votre nom de famille" web site, there were only two Glaze births in France between 1891 and 1990; 1 in Paris between 1916 and 1940; and 1 in Chapelle St Mesmin in the Loiret department between 1941 and 1965. I think to get further details you would need to approach the local town hall in each case. A Joseph Glaze appears on a War Memorial commorating World War 1 dead in Pornic in the Loire Atlantique department. Bonne chasse!

My grandmother Uncle Francis H Glaze b 1886 Torquay Devon went off to France to indulge himself in his love of horses. Once there no one ever heard of him again. Does anyone know how we can trace his steps in France please?
