Hi Tracey :O) The adoption records are held by the agency that actually arranged the adoption, whether that is social services or an adoption agency, however as this is pre 1975 he will need to see a cousellor before he has access to his records (this is a formality to ensure he has thought all this through, this will probably take a while . however, they may be some information in these about his siblings. I had a quick look on my infodisk for you and there are no signs of anyone with the name Mirrel in the North West, but there is an entry for 1 Hirrel and several Hirrell 's in Liverpool. (none of them for a Darren or Tracey). Also try posting messages on the follwoing sites:- www.myfolks(.)co(.)uk www.missing-you(.)net Also you will find details of the contact register at both Southport and Norcap at the look-up site Julie gave you. Good Luck with your search Sheila

thanx julie im onto those tips now, do the adoption records get held by local registry office or is it a social service file? its that issue you mentioned with boys not wanting to upset adopted parents.

Contact the adoption agency who dealt with adoption and let them know you want contact with Darren/Darryl. He may have left a message to be contacted and or they may give you more info as to find him ie location etc. Have you looked up friends reunited either for mothers name or Darren's original name? Also could put in husbands original name and pointers that someone looking could immediately recognise. Could also leave a message on the Trying to find part as well as on the Trying to find on genes reunited. There's also a couple of web sites Lookupuk*com has an adoption section including Adoption Match if I remember correctly. Missing-you*net Could try searching on b4usearch* for the grandmother or if you go onto the Records message board here there's Rachel and at least another person who will do an electors roll search 2004 (though the grandmother may be easier to find in the 2002/3 due to the option of not having your name published in the latest electors roll.) Also could try leaving a message on Lost Touch page 151 on Channel 4 preferably for the grandmother as she won't have changed her name hopefully!!!!! Wording is very important as you only have 30 words but could creep a request for Darren in there too. She may have information about the others or not but at least you'll have found a grandparent!!!!!! Unfortunately boys don't tend to start looking for their natural parents until they become parents themselves or don't want to upset adoptive parents. Anyway good luck.

my name is andrea dean and i am currently searching for my husbands birth family. his name is christopher dean which was changed from his original birth name of christopher neil poland. with his permission i am placing this request for help. his mothers name was val poland nee leggett and he has a brother called daryl or darren, (known by both these names) also poland. he may possibly have a sister named tracy. he was born in liverpool in 1973 and his known siblings are older than him. darren was also placed into care at the age of three . we are unsure of the sisters fate. his maternal grandmother was known by the name of hirrel or mirrel(unclear writing on record),it is possible that tracy went to live with grandma. i am at the point in this search where no information is either forthcoming or correlating. his mums maiden name was leggett yet the grandmother was known by the name hirrel/mirrel. we do know that the mother went to the far east to live and do not seek her location/wellbeing.we have got some records and seen some birth entries on the 1837 online web, but need further guidance from here. can anyone help. any suggestions on the order of processes and the address or contacts of any adoptee registers would be particularly useful. thanx in advance
