Are they married?

The name on the death cert is only that provided by informant so if it was a relative they may have just assumed they were married. Alternatively, they may have married outside of their normal district for some reason, work etc. You may have to widen your search to other districts. I have a couple from Cumbria who married in Cambridge for some reason. (I think the marriage was against the brides parents wishes) Good luck. Ps I also have a marriage I cannot find from the mid 1860s . Kim

I have searched and searched for a marriage for one family who had more that 5 children. Now according to family papers they weren't married at all - though death certificates say otherwise. Sorry

I'm afraid that the name given on the death certificate proves nothing at all.

I cant find my G G G parent's marriage. They had 5 children born between 1859 - 1872 in Rotherhithe, London. I know they are married cos her death was registered in her married name. Where can i look for it? Their name are Joseph Balcomb (1833 Ticehurst) and Sarah Ann Hatfield (1835 Sherness). Thanks Valerie
