Relatives! Who needs 'em!

I know frustration isn't uncommon in this hobby, but I really fell like whacking my living relatives over the head with something heavy. One, the black sheep, ran away from home and only kept in contact with one of his sisters. After his father died and his sisters went to sort through the house they discovered the house had been stripped bare. Turned out black sheep had driven up in the night and loaded everything - photos, furniture, clothes, the Will - into a van and disappeared again. Second relative found out loads about our Irish ancestry before giving up but kept his findings in a drawer for two years and refused to let me look. I eventually got four A4 pages with the basics and a photo but he won't tell me where he found the information. Third relative has never managed to give the same details twice when I ask about her family. She managed to get my name wrong when I was born so I despair of ever getting useful info out of her.

Families are strange though. I have an auntie who started to trace the family tree- getting her to share info with me is like pulling teeth, she almost never offers info, she will only tell you stuff if you ask direct questions. Eventually she gave me some sheets of A4 with a confusing lists of names back to 1600 but no liks between any of them, so I do not know how they fit in to the family . Funny thing is that she is interested enough to find out about these dead rellies, but has not spoken to her own son in years and is not sure exactly how many grand children she has. Strange priorities if you ask me....
