Aileen, The marriage data on FreeBMD for the 1850s is pretty sparse http://freebmd.rootsweb*com/progress.shtml You might need to order Sarah Ann's birth cert. Crista

Hello Crista, Samuel ( my gt gt gf ) has appeared on a couple of censuses with his wife stated as Maria. They had moved to 4, Junction St, West Ham, London but they only ever appeared together- guess their family were all married off so I don't know who their other children were. Samuel and Maria had my gt grandmother Sarah Ann who married Robert Armstrong Bone. On the marriage certificate of Robert and Sarah everyone appeared to live in the same road. I suppose Maria could be a second wife and not the mother of Sarah- I haven't obtained Sarah's birth certificate yet which would give me the answers I need, but just thought I could find out some stuff beforehand. p.p.s. Funny coincidence department: my greatgrandmother then moved to *London* where she married my Greatgrandfather, and then they moved to Lambeth. Not quite *East London* but getting near !

p.s. My greatgrandmother was born in Outwell, near Upwell, near Wisbech in Ely Cambridgshire, BUT It's one of those places where the boundaries often changed ! Sometimes she is listed as being from Cambridgeshire, and sometimes she is listed as coming from Norfolk !! This site, for instance, has lots of Nurses from Norfolk: http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/index.php

Hi Aileen, I tried cambridge BMD http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/sub/register/cambsindex.htm for your Samuel Nurse and got 2 hits: -------------------------- 1)Surname: NURSE Forename: Samuel Middle Initial: Year of Marriage: 1847 Reference: 338/ROW2/17/1 District: Fenland (the Registration District in which the marriage took place) Spouses Surname(s): AYRE ---------------------------- 2)Surname: NURSE Forename: Samuel Middle Initial: Year of Marriage: 1852 Reference: 338/CW10-3/3/1 District: Fenland (the Registration District in which the marriage took place) Spouses Surname(s): -------------------- Unfortunately, that only confirms what you knows, and tells you nothing new ! Sorry ! Try this site aswell: http://contueor(.)com/wisbech/ Loads of information about Wisbech and the Fenlands, maps too.

I believe that my gt. grandfather Samuel Nurse married Maria (?) in Sept Qtr. 1852. I checked Free BMD and got a reference ( 3b 948) but when I went to see if Maria was on the same page, she wasn't there- it looked like she hadn't been transcribed- so I am none the wiser concerning her maiden name. Before I chance ordering the certificate or visiting the FRC, is there anything else I could do myself online? ....I think the wedding took place in the Wisbech area Many thanks Aileenx
