Pleased to report that I have solved the problem here. I recently downloaded a virus protector (AVG), but replaced it this evening after following Judy's recommendations. When I unistalled AVG it said that some of my OE settings had been altered and when I clicked on restore settings, it sprung back into life - hurrah! Thank you to those who offered suggestions!

Anita, If it's only today that it's happened, wait til the morning, could be your provider's server is having probs. The amount of times I have tweeked this machine only to discover it was their server, if not then maybe your connections need resetting from scratch. Barry, Sorry you are right, and when I looked at my spelling, GEEPs!! tired mode setting in I think. Been at machine since 7.30 this morning!!! Kim

Kim, thanks, but that's not the problem - it works perfectly well one minute, and NOT the next. Have had the same set up for the last 8 years - nothing has changed except for performance. Anita

Hi Judy, sorry, another request for advice. Can you help me to understand why Outlook will open up, but often fails to send and receive? I have double and triple checked all my server details etc as it advises in the error report, and all are ok. I can access my mail ok via my ISP homepage, but this just shows recent messages, not all my folders and contacts as in OE - I'm confused. New PC on the way, but still need the best I can get from this one at present. Cheers, Anita - Kent UK
