Are there any other sites that have the entire BMD index on? I began my search with free BMD, but the record I want is not on, I tried Ancestry, no joy either. I have gone onto 1837 online, but it really annoys me that I can only enter the first three letters of the name, and no district, then get charged to search the many records it gives me. The death I am trying to trace is Freeman Hessey, so the name is not common. I believe he died in Middlesex. I know he was alive in 1891, he was born 1814. Advice greatly appreciated! (Is there another way to search 1837, am I just stupid?!) Thanks again! Sarah |

Hi Sarah, you can browse instead of search on 1837 - that way you can get a rough idea of whereabouts your particular page is in the order. I have been doing some Smiths and still didn't have to look through too many pages, as I realised that 'Edith' was between pages 4-6 each time. Does this make sense? I'm not too good at explaining things! Mandy :) |
