Dead on Russell. - but nothing to do with renewal - I've only just renewed, but it may be my last time if no logical answer is given by GC/GR. I tried replying to Chloé's message too and got the'No titlle' window. What was she or I (or GC/GR) doing wrong?Comments GC/GR? PS If you don't know about batch numbers, then find out - a real horizon spreader!!! Carole

Thanks everyone. Sorry about the speak marks.... didn't know they could cause so much hassle. Thanks for the advice. Chloe

Forgot to say, thank-you Russell (and Stan) because I'd not known about batch numbers before and have had a peek. Still haven't found Harry Locke's birth, though. This will run and run!

I had the same trouble when I tried to reply. I'd like to add to Russell's message that sometimes the particular batch only covers a very few years if the Church did lots of baptisms (like say Leeds Parish Church). In order to check on whether there are older or younger brothers and sisters, batches on either side may be needed. These can be found from the Hugh Wallis website if you note the name of the county, the name of the place and the name of the Church, and then look them up. Each batch covers a group of years which is listed. Most are coded with a 'C' at the beginning, but some, coded 'J' and 'K', list male and female children separately. Stan

It still doesn't work on Chloe's message - Maybe the ' at the beginning of her title ???

I thought it was because I'm up for renewal on 9th of August!! It seems to be ok now though.

Hi Russell, I had the same trouble with needing a title yesterday. I persevered and started again (time consuming) and was able to add a reply the second time. Wonder what's going on?

I have just tried to reply to a post and it asked me to put in a title!! What's it all about Alfie?? Search for your ancestor in the usual way then click on the batch number at the bottom left hand side. This will bring up a new search screen with the batch number already included. Enter the surname and the father's first name. This will bring up all the siblings and possibly others. Then use a bit of common sense re dates etc.. Take care Russell
