how can you find??

Hi how can you find someone who was in the army in 1901 when you don't know their army number or anything else except their name I have tried to get an institution search on the 1901 census but never get anything. is there any way thank you Margaret |

Your soldier should be found by a person search whether he was at home or in barracks. I've been able to find a couple of serving soldiers in barracks and didn't need an institution search. If you can't find him its I think either he's been mistranscribed or was serving abroad at the time of the census. |
