Linking trees

Is there a way that we can link an individual in our tree to A.N.Others tree when a match has been confirmed. I know there the Gencircle website that does it but I'd prefer here.

I think if you look in 'Your Contacts' on the left, one of the options (once you have contacted someone) is to link the individuals. Presumably you both have to agree to this! Anne

It seems as tho you don't both have to agree!! I Have several names on my tree that have been linked to names on other trees - the only way it can have happened is that I have made a contact in respect of a particular name - the person I have contacted has then opened their tree to me - and bingo - a link is made - this happens even when both of us have agreed that there is no known link at the moment, other than a common surname!!

I'm missing something here. I have Other contacts and trees to view, I don't recfall seeing an option to flag an individual as mbeeing in both trees.

I think it depends on how you make the contact. The only time I got the option to link trees I had clicked the envelope beside a name and date that came up on quick searchand which matched one in my tree . They responded and opened their tree to me. Then in 'Your Contacts' I had a message something like - you have contacted x about Fred Bloggs ...... asking me if I wanted to add a link and what name on the tree I wanted to link through.
