I know that there has been a recent thread about this but I can't find it so sorry to repeat it all over again, folks!!....I have contacted two GR members recently regarding a particular family name but after looking through the name list this morning, it looks like I've contacted a whole lot more when I haven't!! I have (contacted) by the side of about 20 names and I can only assume that these other people are the contacts of MY contacts that have been linked . I have found this all very confusing to say the least and can see that this will cause me lots of problems in the future......what does anyone else think???? Love Aileenx

These will all be people on the tree of the people you have contacted. It saves you contacting the same person if you see another name that you recognise.

Yes, When you contact somebody about a possible line, the red contacted goes against all the entries in their tree. Diane

Hi Aileen, Don't forget the contact list isn't only about you contacting them - somebody may well have contacted YOU through GC. Click on "Click Here to view the contents of the original email contact" - this will then show the message that someone else has sent you or what you sent them. Gaynor

Thanks Carole and Diane It probably is a good idea and maybe I'm being pernickity here but I think (linked) would be better. That way it's obvious from the start that you haven't contacted the person yourself -I think I'll find problems if I want to contact anyone else for more info on a particular relative but I guess I'll have to keep checking the 'my contacts' section. to make sure I haven't already emailed them...sorry I know what I want to say but it isn't coming out clearly!!!!LOL Thanks Gaynor...I checked but there was anyone new on there Aileenx
