Hi all Had a letter about 10 days ago from someone I thought was possibly connected - same name as my grandma's son-in-law who notified her death - who gave me the names of his two cousins who he said were MY cousins too. Wrote to them both and had a phone call Friday from Lilian (while I was out!). Phoned her last night - we were talking for an hour!- and yes she is a cousin I didn't know I had! She's going to send me some photos of our grandma and of my dad. None of this would have happened without GC because without the encouragement and suggestions from my 2nd cousin Wendy who I met through here in my first week, I would never have thought about going down that route!! I can't believe it still - I am most definitely going to try to get up to shields before the end of the hols so that I can meet her - she sounds such a nice person.

Jammy you! Although I have had a lot of help from people on this site, the only contact I've made is with someone whose husband's family are connected with mine umpteen generations back. Let us know how you get on. Helen

Congratulations! I know how you feel, I have made contact with a few cousins (a couple of times removed) through GC and always get a thrill to discover a new relative. Carole

I agree with Carole....I've made a connection with a cousin on here and am awaiting replies concerning other possible connections so I am eagerly checking my inbox. Sometimes things are at a standstill for ages and then take off again which adds to the thrill of this addiction! Hope you get loads more success in your searches Aileenx

Had a letter from said cousin's sister this morning with a bit more info! It seems as if my grandad was not a nice man. Lilian told me on Saturday he was very strict and often gave his kids beatings. Joan wrote that he was a drunkard and a bully. All of which is very interesting because having talked to another more distant relation on my grandad's side, the story in the family is that grandma had the drink problem! Anyway thanks all for your kind thoughts. It's good to be able to talk about it cos my hubby doesn't really understand! Jan
