Genealogy Chat

I have my grandmother (have a date but no record of birth but have death certificate from Norfolk where she moved to), great grandparents and g.g.grandparents all in the Gateshead area. Earliest date starting 1843. I have found on the census years of birth for all but cannot find any traces of deaths but have found a couple of possible marriages. I was thinking of coming to Gateshead to see if i can find any more info. WHERE would I go to check births and deaths and parish records? Please tell me there is one building I can go to. Any help greatly appreciated. Carol
