Message In case you are closer to London than Oxford - I posted the following message on 16 July and repeat it below :- A wealth of information can be found on the British Library website. The following is the response I received from the library after I e-mailed them a few weeks ago with a similar enquiry:- You can view the electoral registers in the Social Sciences and Official Publications reading room at The British Library site at 96 Euston Road, NW1 2DB. The registers are held in our basements from 1982 onwards and when ordered will take 1 hour to arrive to the reading room. Prior to that they are held off site in our Woolwich store. We have 3 deliveries a day and they take around half a day to arrive depending on what time you order them. For more information on what we hold have a look at the electoral registers section on our website. See link below: http://www.bl.uk/collections/social/spis_er.html Norman A |

I think they would probably be at either the Oxford Central Library, Westgate, Oxford OX1 1DJ. Tel: 01865 278415 or Oxfordshire Archives, St Luke's church, Temple Road, Cowley, Oxfordshire OX4 2EX. Tel: 01865 398200 Both these places are accessible on the web at: www(.)oxfordshire(.)gov(.)uk Remove () first. Helen |

Can anyone tell me how to access the 1957 electoral roll? Would it be held at the local library or do the records get transferred somewhere else after a period of time. Help please!!! |
