I am trying to find any info about Alfred Tomlinson. He was born in the Broughton area of Salford in 1894. Father-Alfred Henry, mother-Sarah.He had a sister Ada and a brother Charles. By 1901 his father had died and his mother had married Thomas Wilson. Alfred married Florence Mayors around 1917 from his sister's address in Miles Platting but returned to live in Salford. They had 4 children, 2 of whom died. He left the family sometime around 1935 and I have been unable to track him down anywhere. I have searched the death records to no avail and he is not believed to havedied in the war. Any ideas or info would be appreciated

Possibly he changed his name, or left the country. When you say you can't find him anywhere, where have you looked?

Hi Helen It may be as you say. I have a marriage cert. and birth certs. for the children and on his sons marriage cert. in 1947 he is down as a brass moulder so it was assumed that he was alive then but he was not at the wedding so who knows? I did think of the electoral roll but again I have no address. (Is there a surname index for an area?) Although his wife lived with someone else she never married again so I assume they never divorced. Perhaps if I find his sister's married name I could trace where she lived and he might have gone to live with her.
