Looking at the children I would say they moved there between 1877 and 1880. Samuel was born in Tipton he is aged 4 and Sarah was born in York and she is aged 1. Irene

Hello Janet, I had a look for Fred and Maria on the 1881 census, but without luck. You didn't mention your grandfathers name which wasn't easy, but all the Fred's didn't match your criteria. Have you found this family on the 1901 census? I don't think they stayed in the Tipton area (unless they are under a different name on the census, or maybe Fred died, there are oodles of Maria Morgan's, none in the Tipton area.) If you'd like me to find your family on the 1881 census please send me as much info as pos, eg Fred and Maria's ages and the baby's name, and I'll have another look. (click on my name to send me an email) The 1881 and 1901 are available online. The other census are available at Ancestry etc, there are people here offering lookups. There are also several lookup exchanges with people offering lookups, if you get stuck. Bye for now Diane NSW Australia

You also could look up that address on both the 1871 and 1881 Censuses. That may give you the whole family, and where the parents were born. Jim

What it says is X the mark of Maria Morgan. The X was just her signature as she couldn't write. It was the mother who registered the birth. Now that you have the birthdate of a child you have an idea when to look for their marriage. And it often was after the birth of the first child. Good luck Jim
