Does anyone know where Bangrove might be and where I might find the parish records? I think it might be near to Beckford (Gloucestershire or Worcestershire) but am a bit confused as I don't seem to be able to find it at the moment. Hope someone can help!! Neil Tyler

I live in Tewkesbury, close to Beckford, but I've never heard of it. I'll give it some thought.

I've found a Bangrove Farm! http://www.visitus.*co.uk/uk/Heart_of_England.TEWKESBURY.TEWKESBURY/16448.htm

Bangrove is in Suffolk. It is half-way between and slightly to the right of Thetford and Bury St Edmunds, but does not appear to be in either registration district. It's also not listed as a parish on the Genuki website. Bardwell is the nearest village, so perhaps that is the parish you want, maybe Bangrove was a hamlet without its own church. Bardwell is in Thingoe reg. district until 1908 when it became Bury St. Edmunds reg. district. Hope this helps. Helen

If you take the URL I posted, click on "Map", then zoom out - click on (-) and you will find BENGROVE on the map. This is about 2 miles south of Beckford.

Hi Neil. Have a look at the Phillimore atlas that you will find in your local library and it will tell you where all the parish records are kept or you could try the LDS Library catalogue but they may only have the Bishops Transcripts of the parish. Mary

The hamlet of Bengrove is midway between Teddington and Alstone which both have churches - only half a mile from each. Alstone (1813-74) is in the Hugh Walllis index but Teddington isn't. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.*com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle
